We all know how lonely and frustrating the IVF process can be, overwhelmingly dominated by a sense of lost control – your body, your life plans, your finances, your mental health, your work-life, your relationships – everything. When I asked questions in my Instagram stories a few weeks ago, all of these came out as challenges people were facing whilst going through IVF, each and every single one I could relate to from my own experience. When going through such a rollercoaster of a journey, with so many hopes and dreams pinned on it succeeding, it’s important to feel like you’re supported with the ability to manage those few things that can be controlled.
I’m continuing to partner with Apricity and Altrui to work with them on raising awareness and starting some conversations about this very topic. In follow up to our hugely successful webinar last month “Donor Decisions & Beyond” (if you missed it, here is the link to the recording – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL2eSzyoE7o ) we will now be hosting a more generic look at “IVF in the UK – How Can I Regain Control?“
I’ll be talking about the patient experience and will share what I’ve learned about resources that are available to help build yourself a support network. I’ll also be joined by a fertility counsellor to talk through some of the things we can be doing to help feel like we’re regaining some control. This will be followed by some useful information about Apricity and how they were formed to help IVF become more transparent, supported and personal. Many of the differences about how Apricity work can actually help relieve some of what people told me were their biggest frustrations, particularly when it comes to clinic communication and feeling like they were the only ones driving the process.
If you want to join us we’ll be chatting live on Tuesday 23rd June at 6pm (BST) – it’s free to join with the link to register using this link https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ivf-in-the-uk-how-can-i-rega…
You can also send through any questions you might have beforehand for Apricity, the fertility counsellor or myself to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope to see you there!
Love, Becky x
